KPK Government Decides to Start Online Classes in Universities

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to begin online classes from 1st June for the universities amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The provincial government gave directives to start online classes to resume academic activities which were hindered due to the corona imposed lockdown.

The online session will start on 1st June while the administrations of the universities have explained the decision to the students and educators.

The government has asked to ensure the attendance of the important staff of the universities. There are some universities that will be reopening only for staff members which include; Hazara University, Islamic college, Peshawar, and Swabi.

It has been directed by the KPK authorities to follow strict preventive measures in all universities.

Two months back, the education institutions closed down due to the spread of coronavirus. The provincial government during the lockdown decided to promote students of schools and colleges enrolled with the curriculum of matriculation and intermediate without conducting any examinations.

The decision to begin online classes from the 1st of June has been taken at the highest level, revealed source privy on the matter.

A meeting took place between the vice-chancellors of the university led by Dr. Tariq Banuri Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) in order to discuss different ways to conduct annual examinations.

They suggested conducting exams on the basis of assignments, open book, viva-voce methods, and multiple-choice questions.

Vice-chancellors also told the complaints the students are making regarding the internet issues and requested HEC to help figure out a way for this issue.

A proper mechanism will be arranged to make the online classes process easy so that it can become manageable for everyone to benefit from.

HEC also asked the universities to plan an examination policy for the students.

Also, the education institutions are asked to plan a unified admission policy and announce a date for admissions.
