The Government Is Considering Reopening Schools

On 22 June, Shafqat Mahmood announced that the government is planning to reopen schools. He said that reopening schools is under consideration, and the government is consulting with other provisional governments. 

Shafqat Mahmood stated that the government is planning to open schools from the first week of July. If schools open, then school authorities will have to follow the SOPs strictly.

Gallup survey Regarding Reopening Schools

He also said that 70% of parents showed a positive response towards the opening schools according to the Gallup survey. Parents will send their children to the schools only if the school follows the SOPs.

Punjab Government Suggestion:

As the government of Punjab is thinking about the reopening schools under SOPs. There is also a suggestion to open the schools in three phases.

  • In the first phase, only 9th and 10th-grade students will attend the schools
  • In the second phase, students of grade five to eight can come to schools
  • Then in the third phase, students of all classes will free to go to schools

The Education Minister further said that it is also considering opening the universities before schools. In this regard, the final decision will be made on 02 July. 

KPK Government Decision:

The government of KPK also announced to reopen the schools from July. The KPK government also stated that the schools must follow SOPs. Otherwise, the government will take strict action against them.
