Schools will remain closed till the COVID-19 pandemic
In a press conference at the PTCB office, Punjab School Education Minister Murad Raas announced that all the schools would remain closed until the threat of corona is over. He said that the Punjab government would not allow any private school to open.
He also warned the schools that the government will take strict action against those who will not obey the government order. He said that to protect children’s lives is the priority, and by allowing the schools to open, we couldn’t put students in danger.
Some days ago, All Pakistan Private School Federation( APPSF) demanded the schools open. They also suggested that in schools, to maintain social distancing, two shifts will be run. The first shift from 7 am-10 am and the second shift from 12 pm-2 pm. However, Education Minister Murad Raas wouldn’t allow them to open the schools.
He also said that private schools should give fee concessions to the students till the closure of schools, and it is up to the situation whether the school remains closed for months/ a year.
In the press conference, Murad Raas stated that the government is working on establishing Model Schools. He also said that a control room had been set in PTCB to resolve the complaints about books; from the coming week, book distribution will start among students.
