Punjab Govt. to Set up A New University

On the 1st of July, the governor of Punjab, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar inked the Baba Guru Nanak University Nankana Sahib Bill 2020. Once the bill is enacted then the government of Punjab would be constructing an international standard university in the province.

The governor said that the Baba Guru Nanak University would excel both in the research and academics and would prove to be the centre of excellence in many fields. He also said that the making of a high-level university in the ancient city of Nankana Sahib would be bringing in a new era of prosperity, knowledge, progress and development.

PM Khan laid the basis of the university named after the founder of the Sikh religion back in the year 2019. The university would be established in the northeast district of Punjab, Nankana Sahib, which is the birthplace of the Baba Guru Nanak and is situated at a distance of 46 miles from Lahore.

The northeastern province of Pakistan is significant as it has got the most important pilgrimage locations for the Sikhs.

The government of Pakistan built the Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib last year for facilitating the Sikh pilgrims from across the world, especially India.

On the other hand, as per the latest, the government has launched a travelling instruction app for all the overseas passengers.
