The post is located in the Regional Office for Eastern Africa (ROEA) in Nairobi, Kenya, Division for Operations (DO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The Programme Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Global Maritime Crime Programme Coordinator (Indian Ocean West) and in close coordination with the Global Maritime Crime Programme Management Officer
Duties
- Serve as a focal point for administrative coordination of programme/project implementation activities, involving extensive liaison with a diverse organizational unit to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on various administrative actions, e.g. recruitment and appointment of personnel, travel arrangements, training/study tours, authorization of payments, disbursement of funds, procurement of equipment and services, etc.
- Also, assist in the coordination of programme/project planning and preparation work for the assigned portfolio under the Global Maritime Crime Programme.
- Additionally, compile, summarize, and present basic information/data on specific programmes/ project and related topics or issues. Summarize and enter data on project delivery.
- Also, review project documents especially cost plans/budgets for completeness and compliance with relevant rules and procedures prior to submission for final approval and signature.
- Furthermore, review budget revisions; verify availability of funds; ensure necessary approval and entry in computerized budget system.
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in programme or project administration, including finance, budget, accounting, administrative services or related area is required.
Also, experience in working with an ERP system.
Additionally, experience in grants, project and fund management related modules in SAP/Umoja is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Furthermore, for the position, the incumbent should have fluency in oral and written English. Also, knowledge of a second official United Nations language is desirable.
