Duties

Proposal Process

  • Performs pre-award sponsored awards activities for assigned unit(s) within the GO Center. Pre-award activities include, but are not limited to assisting Principal Investigators (PIs) in developing, preparing, editing, and submitting federal and non-federal grant and contract proposals
  • Additionally, the candidate advises the PI and completes all administrative requirements when preparing proposals
  • Also, he/she coordinates and reviews proposal elements for consistency, accuracy, and thoroughness in line with sponsor guidelines
  • Likewise, the incumbent confers with PI and pre-award support staff at collaborating institutions or organizations to secure necessary sub-award documents for proposals

Pre-Award Outreach and Liaison

  • Interacts and collaborates with GO Center staff, various internal administrative staff, and professional staff at the federal government, non-federal sponsors, corporate sponsors, and other institutions
  • Additionally, the incumbent works effectively with other university offices (central, school, departments, divisions, GO Centers) on research proposals
  • Furthermore, contributes information and ideas related to areas of responsibility as part of a cross-functional team

Other

  • Assists with a variety of research administration/grants managements systems internal and external to the university
  • Furthermore, performs related responsibilities as required

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of grant development, proposals, applications, and administration
  • Project facilitation skills
  • Additionally, the ability to maintain accurate records and attention to details
  • Knowledge of best practices in research administration and current regulations in the areas of research administration or interpretation of similar regulations
  • Also, the ability to establish and maintain effective collaborations with the diverse campus community and representatives from foundations and federal agencies
  • Knowledge of concepts related to sponsor-specific policies, intellectual property policy, conflict of interest requirements, publication rights, application of indirect cost rates and other complex concepts in research administration
  • Likewise, the ability to manage detail and to organize and prioritize workload during high-pressure, high volume workload periods
  • Furthermore, the ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and tact
  • Additionally, thrive in a fast-paced, heavy-volume department

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; experience working with sponsored research administration in an academic setting preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
