Govt. of Punjab Warns of Strict Action Against Schools Planning to Reopen

The government of Punjab has warned in advance to all the educational institutes may they be public or private who are planning to reopen, that strict action would be taken against them.

The education minister of Punjab, Murad Raas posted on Twitter that no private or public school in the province would be reopened until the government of Punjab permits it via a notification.

He wrote that they will not allow anyone to put the lives of the children and of teachers and their respective families in danger.

Earlier, the Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) stood against the reopening of the schools in the province, saying that the formed SOPs for curbing the spread of the virus is not just difficult but nearly impossible to implement and advised the government against the reopening of the primary and middle schools as more coronavirus cases are emerging on a per-day basis.

The PTU Central President, Chaudhry Sarfaraz and other leaders mentioned in a press release that the because of the extensive quantity of children in schools it would not be possible to seat them at distances from each other as was prescribed by the SOPs. The PTU said amid the current hot weather, problems of power outages and the supply of cold drinking water would also be faced by the schools.
