Vacancy for Program Management Officer at the United Nations

Applications have opened for the Vacancy for Program Management Officer at the United Nations in Thailand.

Duties

  • Develops, implements and evaluates the annual Compliance Assistance Programmes (CAP) programs as well as projects under the Multilateral Fund
  • Additionally, the incumbent will provide policy and technical assistance to countries for the implementation of the approved projects, in collaboration with the National Ozone Unit.
  • Similarly, guide national survey on the use of the controlled substance, assist countries to design data collection tools, review, analyze the data collected, and identify problems/issues and prepare conclusions.
  • Also, contribute and assist the organization of network meetings, regional thematic workshop, etc., include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
  • Likewise, the candidate leads and/or participates in-country supervision missions, provide guidance to external consultants, government officials, and other parties and draft mission summaries, etc.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences/management engineering, economics, or a related field. Additionally,  first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental programs with working experience in developing countries is required.
Also, experience in implementing Montreal Protocol programs or Ozone Depleting Substances phase-out activities is desirable.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additionally, for the position advertised, fluency in English. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Evaluation of qualified candidates for this position may include a substantive assessment which will be followed by a competency-based interview.

This position is open for recruitment for an initial period of one year and may be subject to extension. Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by Him or her. In this context, all staff should move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
