NED University has revised its admission policy amid the coronavirus outbreak. The university is among the top engineering universities of the province Sindh. For the first time ever, the university has taken the decision of giving admissions to the students based on their first-year results of intermediate examinations instead of taking into consideration the overall percentage of both the years.
The global pandemic of coronavirus has affected all the aspects of life, it has also affected on the educational set up and has urged the universities to revise their admission policies as all the campuses are closed and the examinations are called off.
Furthermore, NED has also changed the merit criteria for admissions as per which the entrance test has been given a 50 per cent weightage. The weightage of marks taken in the intermediate examinations has been reduced to 50 per cent.
Previously, the admission test was only given 8.33 per cent of weightage, while the weightage of the marks obtained in the intermediate was 91.66 per cent. Because of this new decision, the candidates looking for taking admission in the university will now have to work really hard in order to qualify the entrance test.
The decision was given approval during an online meeting that was headed by the vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Sarosh Lodhi. He said that the syndicate would soon give its final approval for the decision, following that an official announcement will also be made.
NED is to commence its academic session in October. Since the inter exams have been delayed owing to the coronavirus and the pre-engineering results will not be available before October.
